1. InDesign CS4’s Smart Guides feature makes for much faster layouts, especially when laying out multiple images. Choose File > Place and select two or more images to place. The Multi-place feature was added in CS3. (Hold down the Cmd/Ctrl key to multiple-select files in the same folder, then click Open.) InDesign’s Place cursor shows the number of images and a preview of the top image of the placement stack.

2. Drag out the first image, and the frame is created proportional to the image. As you drag, the scaling percentage is displayed.
