Introducing Adobe Digital Publishing Suite

Adobe’s released the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite in 2011 to let tablet users (like those who have the iPad) work with interactive content in a magazine or publication format. Examples of publications using this technology include WIRED, Reader’s Digest and Martha Stewart Living. You can use the tools provided to work within InDesign CS5 and 5.5 to create interactivity that responds to gestures—for example, flipping through a slide show, panning images, rotating objects 360 degrees, and more. In this training program, you’ll learn how to:

• Get an overview of the workflow and structure required to create a digital publication
• Create layouts for both horizontal and vertical orientations
• Create and edit interactivity, and learn what InDesign features work
• Create and preview a .folio file that will be loaded or downloaded on a tablet device
• Make your folios available to customers

Introducing Adobe Edge

In August 2011, Adobe released a preview of its upcoming Adobe Edge software. This is a new web development tool that makes it easy to create animations and interactive websites with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. These three technologies are beginning to add the interaction and multimedia we’ve come to expect from the web without forcing users to download plug-ins like Adobe Flash or Microsoft Silverlight. It’s new technology and it’s evolving quickly to stay ahead of evolving web standards, but it will change the way we create and view animations on desktop computers, tablet devices, and smartphones. In this training program, you’ll learn:

• What is Edge and how does it work?
• Exploring the interface and understanding a time-based timeline
• Creating basic animation
• Saving and publishing your work
• Adding interactivity like looping, hyperlinks, and greater animation control
• Adding animation to existing web content
• Examining examples of what Adobe Edge can produce
